Gretel is a super sweetheart that has recently lost her vision due to a disease called SARDS.
She gets along very well using her other senses to find her way.

She loves humans; however she is not a fan of other dogs. We think that this is partly because she can’t see the body language of the other dogs.
She comes when you call her, and will follow you everywhere. She LOVES laps. She came to us weighing 24 pounds and has lost 4 pounds already.

She will need to lose another 3-4 pounds and she will be a great weight once again.

She will need a home with a yard as she came from a home that had a yard and she doesn’t do well doing her business on a leash.
We think that a home that has someone home the majority of the time, and no young children would be the best place for her.

She is 7 years old, has had a recent dental, stayed, UTD on all her vaccinations, and is micro chipped.

Coco is a delightful, friendly, happy, quiet, and sweet 9 year old.  Loves to great you at the front door.  She came to us with severe dental disease and a large fatty tumor under her neck.  She has gone through two dental surgeries and her fatty tumor removed and came back home as if it was nothing.

Walks, treats, snuggling under blankets, treats, and sleeping in our bed is what she definitely enjoys. Her previous owner let the dogs graze all day but we schedule her meals once in the am and pm.  Being a “lap” dog is her absolute favorite thing to do!  She gets along well with other dogs but it’s unknown about cats.  She’s potty trained inside on a pad and outside.

She does have cutaneous vasculitis (meaning her blood vessels are inflamed) on the tips of each ear.  We have been feeding her a supplement and using coconut oil on the tips of her ears to help treat it.  She truly is a great dog and you can tell she was treated well during her first 9 years.

All of our adoptable dogs have been microchipped, neutered, and up-to-date on all their vaccinations. They have received medical care and training if needed. We match our doxies with the best family/home for their personalities, temperaments, and needs and carefully screen applicants to make that possible. Click here to review our application process.

Please wait to fill out an application for the pups below until we announce here and on Facebook and Instagram that a dachshund is ready for a new home.
